Horror and Wrestlers in a Good Mexican Movie!
This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse we have a special guest joining us Roberto “Bobb” Cotter author of ìThe Mexican Masked Wrestler and Monster Filmography as we discuss a Mexican Horror film called Ladron de cadavers or The Body Snatcher from 1957.
A wrestler and a detective team up to stop a mad scientist who is kidnapping athletes and replacing their brains with those of animals to make them stronger and live longer.
They come from another world…. They want three kilometers of land–and…FIVE of your WOMEN!
This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse the whole gang is back as we talk about a Japanese Sci-Fi film from 1957 called The Mysterians. The film was directed by Ishiro Honda.
Aliens arrive on Earth and ask permission to be given a certain tract of land for their people to live on. But when they are discovered to be invaders, responsible for the giant robot that is destroying cities, the armed forces attempt to stop them with every weapon available.
The last place you’d ever expect to find yourself.
This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse I’m on a Sci-FI kick again. So I picked a kind of overlooked film from 2009 called Moon. The film was directed by Duncan Jones and stars Sam Rockwell.
Astronaut Sam Bell has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY, sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet’s power problems.
East Germans in space!
This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse I wanted to do a Sci-Fi film so I picked an East German film In the Dust of the Stars (Im Staub der Sterne) from 1976.
After a six year journey, the Spaceship Cyrno lands on the planet TEM 4 from where they had received a call for help. Strangely enough, the Temers deny having sent this message. As commander Akala prepares the spaceship to leave they get an invitation from the rich ruler of TEM 4 to be a part of a lush party. Not only do the opulent food and the seductive dancers cloud their minds, but also the drugs mixed into their food manipulate their consciousness. Only navigator Suko was left behind on the spaceship for security reasons and makes an unexpected, terrible discovery.
Earth’s last battle will be fought in space.
On today’s show Darryl Mayeski the editor of SCREEM magazine will join Nic, Mary and I as we talk about one of his picks a Sci-Fi film call Silent Running from 1972. The film is directed by Douglas Trumbull and stars Bruce Dern, Huey and Dewey.
Plus we have some great feedback.
