This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse Arrow US has been nice and given us some DVDs so I picked and French/Italian western from 1969 called Cemetery Without Crosses (aka The Rope and the Colt / Une corde, un Colt).

Manuel is a leather-clad killer, drawn into a tragic kidnap/murder plot by his former flame Maria Caine.

This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse It’s near Mary’s birthday so she picked Beetlejuice from 1988. The film was directed by Tim Burton and stars Michael Keaton and Geena Davis.

A couple of recently deceased ghosts contract the services of a “bio-exorcist” in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house.

The last place you’d ever expect to find yourself.

This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse I’m on a Sci-FI kick again. So I picked a kind of overlooked film from 2009 called Moon. The film was directed by Duncan Jones and stars Sam Rockwell.

Astronaut Sam Bell has a quintessentially personal encounter toward the end of his three-year stint on the Moon, where he, working alongside his computer, GERTY, sends back to Earth parcels of a resource that has helped diminish our planet’s power problems.

It’s Mexican Madness Week!

This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse Juan suggested a Mexican film from 1954 called The Witch “La bruja”. The film was directed by Chano Urueta and stars Ramón Gay.

Thieves break into a scientist’s laboratory to steal a secret formula, and in the process they kill his daughter. Enraged, he develops a formula that will turn an extremely ugly woman into a spectacular beauty, and then uses the woman to take his revenge on those responsible for his daughter’s murder.

BMC346-In the Dust of the Stars 1976

East Germans in space!

This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse I wanted to do a Sci-Fi film so I picked an East German film In the Dust of the Stars (Im Staub der Sterne) from 1976.

After a six year journey, the Spaceship Cyrno lands on the planet TEM 4 from where they had received a call for help. Strangely enough, the Temers deny having sent this message. As commander Akala prepares the spaceship to leave they get an invitation from the rich ruler of TEM 4 to be a part of a lush party. Not only do the opulent food and the seductive dancers cloud their minds, but also the drugs mixed into their food manipulate their consciousness. Only navigator Suko was left behind on the spaceship for security reasons and makes an unexpected, terrible discovery.

BMC345-Colossus: The Forbin Project 1970

We built a super computer with a mind of its own and now we must fight it for the world!

This week at The B-Movie Clubhouse I thought we would go with a supercomputer goes crazy film so I picked Colossus: The Forbin Project from 1970. The film was Directed by Joseph Sargent and stars Eric Braeden, Susan Clark and William Schallert.

Thinking this will prevent war, the US government gives an impenetrable supercomputer total control over launching nuclear missiles. But what the computer does with the power is unimaginable to its creators.
