Episode 508: Island of the Fishmen

The B-Movie Cast decides to get our feet wet this episode when we check out “Island of the Fishmen” (Italian: L’isola degli uomini pesce)! Joining Mary and Nic is special guest, is podcaster and cool man-about-town, Bill Mize. This Italian flick from 1979 had a bunch of walking-in-the-jungle scenes cut and gratuitous amounts of Cameron Mitchell added in, but it still flopped in the US. Even the often scantily clad Bond girl, Barbara Bach couldn’t save it. That said, the film boasts some surprisingly good special effects and more fishmen than Red Lobster on a Friday night. So, grab some tarter sauce and get ready for some fun with “Island of the Fishmen” on the B-Movie Cast!

Episode 502: It’s Alive! (1974)

After a longer than expected hiatus, the B-Movie Cast is back again! This time Mary and Nic are joined by gentle listener, and fellow podcaster Bill Mize! Bill took a break from board gaming and podcasting to join us for a family film of a different sort- the 1974 cult classic “It’s Alive”! Writer, director Larry Cohen works out some daddy issues in this film about a mutant, killer baby, and a father torn between his repulsion at the monster and his love for his child. It’s a better film than it should be, with social messages, character growth, and a couple of quick looks at FX master Rick Baker’s crazy killer baby suit! Get ready for some crazy baby physics and a lot of weirdness as the B-Movie Cast checks out “It’s Alive”!

Episode 457: El Monstruo de los Volcanes (The Monster of the Volcano)

This episode of the B-movie Cast is a Juan pick- “El Monstruo de los Volcanes” from 1963. It’s a Mexican monster flick featuring an abominable snowman creature living in the desert, in a cave, under a volcano… yeah not much snow for him to be abominable in here, but that’s beside the point. Juan breaks it down for us while Nic has a breakdown about the idea of karate vs Yeti! We also discuss the future of movie/themed conventions and why Mary will be stuck downstairs for 6 weeks.

So grab some a cold cerveza, get some popcorn and enjoy “El Monstruo de los Volcanes” (The Monster of the Volcano) on this episode of the B-Movie cast!

Also- Catch Juan the Weekend of September 25th to the 27th at the first VIRTUAL Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Convention! For more details visit their facebook page here!

Episode 429: Prophecy (1979)

The B-Movie Cast is back! This episode Mary and Nic welcome special guest Fiona Young-Brown, author, editor, ghostwriter and owner of BritishFoodandTravel.com to the show. The gang is checking out another flick from 1979, this time it’s a mutant bear stalking the New England woods in Prophecy. This is a favorite go-to monster flick for Nic and even more surprising, of Fiona’s too! So get ready to be lectured on the effects of mercury poisoning right before a bear that looks like a giant killer sausage shows up to rip your face off! But don’t worry, this is the B-Movie cast so no mutant bears were harmed in the making of this episode!

Episode 423: Monster Bash 2019

The B-Movie Cast is back after a bit of a break! This is an unusual episode- it’s our Monster Bash Recap episode. So if you’re a fan of the show tune in and see what happened to Mary, Nic, and Juan at the 2019 Monster Bash. Oh, and there are plenty of hints to future films for the B-Movie Cast tucked away in this show as well! Heat up a TV dinner, grab a beer and get ready for the next episode!

Episode 416: Reptilicus!

Mary, Nic and Juan are back! This time the gang is checking out something new… a Danish Kaiju flick: “Reptilicus”! The film was produced by the company behind many of our favorite B-Movies: American International Pictures. They partnered with Danish production company Saga Studios and filmed and released two separate versions: one in Denmark and one in the United States.

Since none of us speak Danish, we’re checking out the English language version. So grab some snacks, a cold drink and get ready for some green slime spitting, giant reptile, crazy dialogue. sometimes slightly out of focus fun with “Reptilicus”!

Oh and take a minute to check out Nic’s new film project: Wretch coming out on iTunes January 29th!
