Episode 499: XANADU

The B-Movie Cast has finally done it. We’ve gone down the road less traveled… and we did it on roller skates. That’s right for episode 499 of The B-Movie Cast, Mary, Nic and special guest Steve Turek are getting our disco balls out and grooving into “Xanadu”. Steve was particularly well qualified to join us for this episode because… well honestly, Nic had a hard time finding anyone else! But, aside from his willingness to endure the sensory spectacle that is “Xanadu”. So, put on your best leisure suit, get out your roller skates and get ready for the film that dared to ask the question “Can Gene Kelly roller skate?” as we check out the infamous disc fever dream that is- “Xandadu”!

Episode 481: The Big Brawl- AKA- The Battle Creek Brawl

The B-Movie Cast is back! In this episode, Mary and Nic are joined by filmmaker, actor, and martial arts movie aficionado, Michael Worth. Michael has taken a break from filmmaking, writing about ‘Bruce-splotation’ films, and launching The Pearl River Collection (of lost Martial Arts flicks) through VCI Entertainment, to check out Robert Clouse’s attempt… ok maybe his third or fourth attempt at this point, to recreate the magic of “Enter the Dragon”, this time with Jackie Chan in “The Big Brawl” (AKA “The Battle Creek Brawl”! We’ve got Jackie Chan kicking some but and showing his stunt skills in 1930s Chicago as he is forced to fight for the mob in the world’s most well-publicized illegal bare-knuckle free-for-all! So, get ready for a fast-paced, action-packed, kung fu fest that may not be Jackie Chan’s best film, but it was certainly his most old-time gangstery one!

Episode 479: Battle Beyond the Stars

In this episode of the B-Movie Cast, Mary and Nic are joined by a very special guest: Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Allan Holzman! Allan was the editor on Roger Corman’s space opera “Battle Beyond the Stars” and he’s happy to share some of his memories from the set as we talk about this sci-fi funfest from 1980. Allan’s also got a new book about the film coming out soon: “Celluloid Wars: Battle Beyond the Stars” from Pulp 2.O Press! So, get ready to do a deep dive into “Star Wars” meets “The Magnificent Seven” with the B-Movie Cast as we follow the rules of the Varda and check out “Battle Beyond the Stars”!

Check out Allan Holzman online at AllanHolzman.com

Allan’s new book- “Celluloid Wars: Battel Beyond the Stars” will be coming out from Pulp2.O press- find them on Facebook for more details!

Episode 448: Flash Gordon

The B-Movie Cast is back and we’re ready to save the Earth from Ming The Merciless because on this episode we take on the cult classic 1980 “Flash Gordon” produced by Dino De Laurentiis! Joining Mary and Nic to talk about all camp sci-fi fun is Eric Brooks! Eric and Nic both saw “Flash” in the theater when it was released so it holds a special, Queen-sound-track-filled place in their hearts. Surprisingly enough, even though this year is the 40th anniversary of the film’s release, Mary had never seen it!

So set your watches to Mingo-Mean-Time and get ready for the most lavishly costumed, British-actor-filled, adaptation of the classic Sunday cartoon serial you will ever find!
