Episode 458: Curse of the Demon (AKA- Night of the Demon)

Halloween is coming and for the B-Movie Cast, that means we do a special film with special guest Mark Mawston! This year’s Halloween treat is “Curse of the Demon” AKA “Night of the Demon” in the UK. The ‘trick’ that comes with this treat is that it was covered way back in episode #78 by the show’s creator, Vince Rotolo, and guest Barry Harding. Normally we wouldn’t revisit a film, but Mary, Nic, and Mark weren’t in on that original podcast and this film is a favorite of Marks so… here we go again!

“Curse of the Demon” is a film about black magic and the eternal struggle between the rational mind and forces of the supernatural. Will science win out over superstition or will we learn that some forces are beyond our understanding? Well, don’t just sit there reading! Grab some popcorn, your favorite tasty beverage, and maybe a bit of that Halloween candy you’ve been saving and tune in for episode 458 of The B-Movie Cast for “Curse of the Demon”

Episode 454: The Ghoul (1933)

The B-Movie Cast is back! This episode Mary and Nic are joined by our resident Egyptologist, Eric Brooks, to look at a film about another Egyptologist: “The Ghoul” from 1933. Considered the first true British horror film after the silent film era, “The Ghoul” features Boris Karloff playing Henry Morlant, a dying Egyptologist who is obsessed with the idea that he can enter the Egyptian afterlife if he rises from the dead and gives an ancient jewel to the God Anubis. Unfortunately for Morlant, everyone and their uncle seems to know about the jewel and want it for their own nefarious purposes. So grab yourself a cold one and tune in for episode 454: “The Ghoul”.

Episode 434: Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?

On this episode of The B-Movie Cast Mary, Nic and Juan are checking out a strange little sort-of Christmas movie called “Whoever Slew Auntie Roo”. It’s set in England and stars Shelley Winters, Mark Lester, and Ralph Richardson. It’s a take on the Hansel and Gretel story that takes some dark turns. So join the gang as we try desperately to find one character in this dark little film who isn’t absolutely despicable!

Episode 429: Prophecy (1979)

The B-Movie Cast is back! This episode Mary and Nic welcome special guest Fiona Young-Brown, author, editor, ghostwriter and owner of BritishFoodandTravel.com to the show. The gang is checking out another flick from 1979, this time it’s a mutant bear stalking the New England woods in Prophecy. This is a favorite go-to monster flick for Nic and even more surprising, of Fiona’s too! So get ready to be lectured on the effects of mercury poisoning right before a bear that looks like a giant killer sausage shows up to rip your face off! But don’t worry, this is the B-Movie cast so no mutant bears were harmed in the making of this episode!

Episode 390- Burn Witch Burn!

Happy Halloween B-Movie Cast Fans! This time on the show Mary and Nic are doing a special episode with our friend from the U.K. Mark Mawston! Mark picked out a classic bit of British cinema from the early 1960s for us staring Peter Wyngarde called “Burn Witch Burn” (originally called “Night of the Eagle” in the U.K.). It’s a movie about witches, magic and the power of being an uptight University professor!

So sit back, grab your bag of Halloween candy and enjoy episode 390 of the B-Movie Podcast!
