“KING KONG” … WILLIS H. O’BRIEN … RAY HARRYHAUSEN: EXPLORING THE CULTURAL INFLUENCE AND LEGACY OF A “MONSTROUS” MOTION PICTURE CLASSIC!
I had an opportunity quite recently to sit down once more with Host, Actor, Comedian, and Writer Ron MacCloskey for his Emmy Award Winning Public Television Series, “Classic Movies with Ron MacCloskey.”
Ron is the writer and producer of the new feature length documentary motion picture, “Boris Karloff: The Man Behind The Monster,” now playing in theaters all across the globe.
For this Halloween themed episode of the popular program, however, we explored the cultural significance, history, and legacy of the most famous “Monster” of them all … King Kong … and his nearly ninety year influence on gorilla films of all shapes and sizes, as well as his career defining impact on the lives and reign of Stop Motion Animation legends, Willis H. O’Brien and Ray Harryhausen.

Episode 470: Santo en AnĂłnimo Mortal AKA- Santo in Anonymous Death Threat

The B-Movie Cast is back! This time Mary and Nic are joined by Juan to explore serious social issues and… oh who am I kidding? We’re here to watch Santo, the masked wrestler kick some Nazi butt in “Santo en Anónimo Mortal” AKA- “Santo in Anonymous Death Threat”. This 1975 Santo flick features the masked wrestler solving murders with his two companions and sporting the latest in business suit fashion. It also has a whole bunch of Nazis who have apparently turned what looks like the ballroom at the Mexico City Holiday Inn into their nefarious, and extremely over-chaired, lair! So, grab a cerveza and tune it to “Santo en Anónimo Mortal” AKA- “Santo in Anonymous Death Threat”.

Episode 424: 3 Dev Adam, AKA- The Turkish Spiderman

The B-Movie Cast is back and this time we’re taking on a real Turkish delight… “3 Dev Adam”. This film (also known as “3 Giant Men” and “The Turkish Spiderman”) is a real doozy! Someone forgot to tell Turkey that most of the world recognizes copyright law. So Turkey’s film industry has a bit of a reputation for ripping off western hit films… think “Turkish Star Wars”, “Turkish Rambo”, etc.…

In this cinematic spectacle Spiderman isn’t your friendly neighborhood teen hero. He’s a sadistic arch criminal who, along with his sadistic girlfriend Nadja, is murdering everyone he can while running an extremely overly complicated criminal smuggling/counterfeiting ring. Only the combined forces of Mexico’s greatest hero: Santo, America’s greatest hero: Captain America, and, because they needed a third person… Captain America’s girlfriend Julia, can stop Spiderman before he kills even more innocent people.

Join Mary, Nic and Juan as they take a bite out of crime with this Turkish superhero film!

Episode 413: El Hacha Diabolica! (Santo VS the Diabolical Hatchet)

The B-Movie Cast is back! Mary is finally done with the outage, Nic is back from California and Juan made his way out of the creepy swamps so we’re ready for a new episode! This time on the cast we’re looking at a Juan pick- get ready for some Lucha libre action with “El Hacha Diabolica” also know as “Santo vs The Diabolical Hatchet!”

This is a Santo origin story movie that explains why he has to keep his mask on… except for showing his girlfriend when she asks… why Santo doesn’t use weapons and were his powers come from… sort of.
Hey, it’s got a hatchet, and it’s diabolical! What more do you want?

So sit back, grab a beer and a TV dinner and check out “El Hacha Diabolica”!

Episode 384: Santo VS The Zombies!

Hey B-Movie Cast Family! This week Mary, Juan and I are checking out another Santo film! This time it’s “Santo VS the Zombies”! Can Santo help the police with their investigation of strange robberies where the robbers keep coming even after they’ve been shot? Who cares? It’s Santo!

We’ve also got a few more surprises – like not one, but two prize drawings

(because our whole timeline is messed up with Mary on the outage right now).

Enjoy the show and we’ll see if we can get another one up soon!
