Episode 473: Predator

In this episode of the B-Movie cast we’re saying the “B” stands for “Blockbuster” as we do the first in our series of big studio B-Movies that were summer blockbusters! What blockbuster are we checking out? The 1987 sci-fi/action classic “Predator” staring 2 future Governors and launching a franchise that is still going strong to this day. To talk about this iconic film Mary and Nic are joined by Matt Niehoff. Matt, along with his partner Brian Cunningham, is the co-owner of ThoughtFly Studios in Louisville Kentucky. He’s worked on numerous film and television projects and was the co-writer and director of “Loss Prevention”. Matt is also an action film aficionado and the perfect choice to check out this classic. So grab a drink, heat up that TV dinner, and get ready to ‘get to the choppa!’ as we check out “Predator”.

Episode 472: Grand Theft Auto (1977 Movie)

Gun your engines and get ready for the car chase that started the directorial career of one of Hollywood’s biggest directors: Ron Howard! That’s right. The B-Movie Cast is back and we’re checking out the 1977 crash-em-up comedy “Grand Theft Auto”! To help Mary and Nic dig into this Roger Corman classic we’re joined by Beverly Gray. Beverly is an author, film historian. She worked with Corman and later his Concorde-New Horizons Pictures on 170 films…. Oh, and did we mention her biography of actor/filmmaker Ron Howard? Yeah, she’s a pretty good one to talk about Ron Howard’s directorial debut! So, make sure your car insurance is paid up and tune in to the “Grand Theft Auto” episode of the B-Movie Cast!

The B-Movie Cast is back! This time Mary and Nic are joined by Juan to explore serious social issues and… oh who am I kidding? We’re here to watch Santo, the masked wrestler kick some Nazi butt in “Santo en Anónimo Mortal” AKA- “Santo in Anonymous Death Threat”. This 1975 Santo flick features the masked wrestler solving murders with his two companions and sporting the latest in business suit fashion. It also has a whole bunch of Nazis who have apparently turned what looks like the ballroom at the Mexico City Holiday Inn into their nefarious, and extremely over-chaired, lair! So, grab a cerveza and tune it to “Santo en Anónimo Mortal” AKA- “Santo in Anonymous Death Threat”.

Episode 469: Dr. No

Mark is a professional photographer who has worked with the Bond film promotions team for over a decade. He was involved in the 50th-anniversary documentary and has met more of the Bond creators and stars than anyone outside of Roger Moore! So, start shaking your vodka martinis and get ready for the B-is-for-Bond-Movie Cast as we cover “Dr. No”!

Episode 468: The Skull

The B-Movie Cast is back! Mary and Nic are on their own this week as Juan was in the middle of a two-day power outage! That’s OK though because there was enough spooky fun to keep it real as we check out “The Skull” from 1965. This British horror film directed by Freddie Francis for Amicus Productions and starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. What happens when a Phrenologist digs up the head of the Marquis de Sade? Nothing good I assure you! So, grab some marshmallows, a cold drink, and a comfy chair and get ready for a horror movie ‘a head’ of its time with “The Skull”
