Episode 504: Exterminating Angel- 1962

This episode of the B-Movie Cast, Mary and Nic are joined by Juan to take a look at a classic of Mexican Cinema, that somewhat defies description: “The Exterminating Angel” (Spanish: El ángel exterminador). It’s a 1962 Mexican surrealist film written and directed by Luis Buñuel. It tells a story we can all identify with, what do you do when your party guests won’t leave? Only in this case there is an unknown compulsion preventing these wealthy aristocrats from vacating the scene. Not only can these folks not leave, but other people can’t come in either. It’s surrealism at its best with as much backstabbing, in fighting, classism, and scheming as any reality TV show, only this one doesn’t let the players exit… oh and there’s a bear too because… why not? Check out “The Exterminating Angel” on the B-Movie Cast!

So with Mary at the top of the stairs we thought we’d check out the other cowboy-dinosaur movie: “The Beast of Hollow Mountain”. This one is based on a story by Willis O’Brian and was a joint Mexican/American film production.

Episode 457: El Monstruo de los Volcanes (The Monster of the Volcano)

This episode of the B-movie Cast is a Juan pick- “El Monstruo de los Volcanes” from 1963. It’s a Mexican monster flick featuring an abominable snowman creature living in the desert, in a cave, under a volcano… yeah not much snow for him to be abominable in here, but that’s beside the point. Juan breaks it down for us while Nic has a breakdown about the idea of karate vs Yeti! We also discuss the future of movie/themed conventions and why Mary will be stuck downstairs for 6 weeks.

So grab some a cold cerveza, get some popcorn and enjoy “El Monstruo de los Volcanes” (The Monster of the Volcano) on this episode of the B-Movie cast!

Also- Catch Juan the Weekend of September 25th to the 27th at the first VIRTUAL Mid Atlantic Nostalgia Convention! For more details visit their facebook page here!

Episode 452: Neutron VS the Death Robots

Hello friends and welcome to the newest episode of the B-Movie cast. This is a special episode as we are dedicating it to the memory of a dear friend of the show, B-Movie fan and friend, Scott Turk. Scott passed away just before we recorded this cast, so we wanted to dedicate it to his memory. If you would like to honor Scott’s memory, please make a donation in his name to one of these charities: Doctors Without Borders, Water.org, or Georgia Public Broadcasting. Scott was a true Monster Kid and a friend to us all and he will be missed.

For this episode Mary, Nic, and Juan head south of the border to check out a Luchador style hero, who never enters the ring! He’s Neutron the Atomic Superman and he’s out to stop some easy bake over zombies and a mad scientist (also in a Luchador mask) in “Neutron VS the Death Robots”. It’s got everything you would expect from the title… except of course for robots, they’re really baked zombies… but anyway, it’s lots of fun! So, get ready for monsters and mayhem from Neutron, the discount Santo!
