This show is a bit different from most as instead of featuring a film, Mary, Nic, and Mark Mawston are joined by Steve Vertlieb! Steve is one of America’s leading film archivists and historians who is a true living link between the golden age of Hollywood and today! A cinema journalist and film music educator Steve is a bit different from some film historians. Many of them collect film memorabilia, Steve, collects friendships, memories and stories! Join us as we talk with Steve about some of his most memorable friends among many of Hollywood’s greatest directors, producers, actors, special effects masters and music composers! Steve is a true wealth of knowledge and we’re very lucky to have him on the show as we talk about everything from Ray Bradbury’s 16mm camera troubles to Ray Harryhausen and more!

This episode of the B-Movie cast is a bit different. Mary was going to be out of touch for 8-12 weeks with the nuclear plant shutdown she normally works. That didn’t happen because she retired from that gig due to concerns about working with a lot of people, in confined spaces for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week (and we’re glad she decided to quit that gig). However, in preparation for her outage we recorded a few episodes to have ‘in the can’. This is one of those episodes!
Special guest host for this show is Nik Havert! He’s the man behind the new book “The Golden Age of Disaster Cinema: A Guide to the Films, 1950-1979”. He also loves to introduce people to new music through his blog – 7th Level Music (http://www.7thlevelmusic.com/). So we asked him to do a special music cast for the show! Tune and check out some of Nik’s favorite monster themed music!
Also- for a bit of fun- check out this video from artist Casey Knoll. Casey did the cover for the new “B-Movie Cookbook: The 1960s” and she created a video showing how she worked her magic! It’s amazing to see the images come to life and it’s also got a kicking-60s theme-song montage to accompany it!
