Episode 417: The Ghost of Sierra De Cobre

The B-Movie Cast is back! This time Mary, Nic and Juan take on the 1964 film “The Ghost of Sierra De Cobre”. This was originally shot to be the pilot for a TV show called “The Haunted” but when that didn’t work out the producers decided to make it a feature film. Though rarely seen in the US, the film was a hit overseas. It stars Martin Landau (“Space 1999”, “Mission Impossible”, “Ed Wood”).

Also this week Mary launches a special double contest for the show’s listeners with a collector’s edition set of trading cards as the prize! So grab your TV dinner, open a cold beer and get ready to check out “The Ghost of Sierra De Cobre”… or as Nic thinks of it- The X-Files from the 60s.

Check out the Special contest!

Episode 415: Christmas In Connecticut (1945)

The B-Movie Cast is back with a bonus episode just in time for the Holidays! Mary and Nic decided to do one of Fiona’s favorite holiday films: “Christmas in Connecticut” (the 1945 one, not the one directed by Arnold Schwarzenegger). In fact, we are not only doing one of her favorite holiday films, but we also asked her to join us on the show! Not a typical B-Movie Cast Christmas film, but it’s still a lot of fun.

This is a Christmas film that doesn’t have a lot of Christmas in it… in fact, it starts with a German U-Boat! But that’s no problem because Uncle Felix says it’s all “hunky dunky”! So sit back, grab a TV dinner and a beer and get ready for fun with the B-Movie Cast!

Episode 413: El Hacha Diabolica! (Santo VS the Diabolical Hatchet)

The B-Movie Cast is back! Mary is finally done with the outage, Nic is back from California and Juan made his way out of the creepy swamps so we’re ready for a new episode! This time on the cast we’re looking at a Juan pick- get ready for some Lucha libre action with “El Hacha Diabolica” also know as “Santo vs The Diabolical Hatchet!”

This is a Santo origin story movie that explains why he has to keep his mask on… except for showing his girlfriend when she asks… why Santo doesn’t use weapons and were his powers come from… sort of.
Hey, it’s got a hatchet, and it’s diabolical! What more do you want?

So sit back, grab a beer and a TV dinner and check out “El Hacha Diabolica”!

Episode 410: OSS 117 Is Unleashed!

The B-Movie Cast is back! This time Mary and Nic have another special guest, straight from the University of Sussex in the UK it’s Adrian Smith! He’s joining the gang to talk about the French Eurospy flick “OSS 117 Is Unleashed”. We’re going to take a step back into the heart of the cold war as an American agent- who speaks only French it would seem, has to investigate a submarine tracking device… and hit on every woman he meets! So grab a cold one, heat up a TV dinner and get ready as the new episode of the B-Movie Cast is unleashed!

Episode 408: The Bride of Frankenstein

This time on the B-Movie Cast Mary and Nic are joined by Fiona Young-Brown! In addition to being an amazing author and editor, Fiona is also Nic’s wife, which has given her a disperportinate amount of exposure to B-Movies! Fiona got to pick this week’s film and as someone with naturally curly hair she decided to go for one of her favorite Universal Monsters- The Bride of Frankenstein!

Join us as we discuss this classic film and try to explain to Mary that there were a lot of things going on under the surface of the film that some viewers might miss. Let’s just say the Hays Code never new what hit it, even after they made the studio cut the film to fit their view of what was decent for society.

As a special bonus, at the end of the podcast one of our listeners sent in a clip from the audio book of “A Boy and His Dog” by the late Harlan Ellison. It’s worth a listen!  Oh and if you’re in the mood for audio books, check out Nic’s first audio book from his

Werewolf for Hire series: Blood Sacrafice!

Episode 403: The Monster and the Girl

The B-Movie cast goes ape on this episode! That’s right, Mary, Nic and Juan have some fun with a film featuring a man in a gorilla suit! Only this isn’t some whacky comedy featuring Abbot and Costello, nope, it’s a quasi-film-noir about a sullied woman (sort of), her brother, the worst white slavery gang ever and oh yeah, a mad scientist who wants to drop a human brain in a gorilla… what more could you ask for? Well how about a cute dog too!  Check out the B-Movie Cast’s look at “The Monster and the Girl”!
