Episode 499: XANADU

The B-Movie Cast has finally done it. We’ve gone down the road less traveled… and we did it on roller skates. That’s right for episode 499 of The B-Movie Cast, Mary, Nic and special guest Steve Turek are getting our disco balls out and grooving into “Xanadu”. Steve was particularly well qualified to join us for this episode because… well honestly, Nic had a hard time finding anyone else! But, aside from his willingness to endure the sensory spectacle that is “Xanadu”. So, put on your best leisure suit, get out your roller skates and get ready for the film that dared to ask the question “Can Gene Kelly roller skate?” as we check out the infamous disc fever dream that is- “Xandadu”!

Episode 435: Irony of Fate (AKA: Enjoy Your Bath)

This episode of the B-Movie Cast is a special look at a film that most people outside of the former Soviet Union probably haven’t heard of “Irony of Fate” (aka- Enjoy Your Bath). This 1975 film is the Russian go to film for New Year celebrations.

Joining Mary and Nic to discuss this film is our favorite expert on all things Russian: Matt Kowalski! We dig into the background of this film as well as the New Year holiday traditions that Russia adopted after Christmas went kaput under communism. So grab your favorite TV dinner, crack open a cold one (or for this pour yourself a shot of vodka) and check out “Irony of Fate” on the B-Movie Cast.

Episode 389: Humanoids From The Deep

The B-Movie Cast is back! This episode Mary, Juan and Nic take a look at a controversial Roger Corman classic: “Humanoids From The Deep” with Doug McClure, Ann Turkel & Vic Morrow! This is a classic monster flick was billed as a serious, dramatic sci-fi film with an ecological message… until Corman said “Where are the boobs?”

The film shows exactly why you should get nervous whenever you hear scientist say things like – “genetically modified for greater size and faster growth” or “some of our specimens escaped into the wild”.  So sit back, grab a TV dinner and a beer and get ready for every sushi chef’s worst nightmare: genetically modified salmon that turn into seven foot tall monsters with a drive to kill… and mate!

Oh and don’t forget to get your B-Movie Cast T-shirt (all the cool kids are wearing them)! Mary just got an order in and they’re going fast!  Click here to go to the order page.
